Reports stated that on Monday, after Amorim’s sacking, Wilcox delivered a speech to the squad, describing the season so far as “disappointing”.

Nevertheless, he urged the players to unite and strive to maintain good form in the second half of the season. He told the players that United’s goal for this season is to qualify for the Champions League, and this target is achievable.

United are currently 7th in the Premier League table, three points adrift of the Champions League places. They are set to face back-to-back clashes with Manchester City and Arsenal, two teams that currently occupy the top two spots in the Premier League.
