Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez did not communicate with Xabi Alonso in person; instead, he dispatched Club General Manager José Ángel Sánchez to dismiss the coach.
Reports state that Sánchez had a direct conversation with Alonso on the flight back from Saudi Arabia, making it clear to him that the club deemed it more appropriate for both parties to terminate their cooperation.
