Former Manchester City and Barcelona midfielder Yaya Touré appeared on a show, where he looked back on his relationship with Pep Guardiola. Touré’s evaluation of Guardiola was far from positive.
Yaya Touré said: “I didn’t see a man, but a snake. The Barcelona coach at the time (referring to Guardiola) called me and said, ‘You have to come back, it’s important.’
“My wife said to me, ‘Are you going to listen to this nonsense? He treated you like that before, and now he wants you to stay, so you’ll stay? Let’s go to Manchester City, brother.’
“This guy didn’t let me play all year, but at the end of the season, after I played well in the World Cup, he wanted to call me back to Barcelona.
“My wife described him as ‘a devil, not a man, he’s evil’—she thinks he’s a negative person.”
Yaya Touré and Guardiola worked together for many years: at Barcelona from 2008 to 2010, and later at Manchester City from 2016 to 2018.
