The magazine disclosed that Karl’s match-used shin pads bear an image of Messi in a Barcelona jersey, capturing his classic celebration of holding his jersey aloft during an El Clásico against Real Madrid. Below the picture are the words: "Learn from the best".
In a past interview, Karl shared his thoughts on Messi. "Many people compare me to Messi, but I don’t think I can hold a candle to him. Messi is at the absolute pinnacle, and I still have a long way to go. Messi is my role model."
