Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé attended the pre‑match press conference ahead of the game against Inter Milan, where he spoke about the Ballon d’Or race.
Do you think you deserve the Ballon d’Or?
Kylian Mbappé: “When you play for Real Madrid, the best club in the world, you get linked to these kinds of awards. People talk to me about it when they see me out on the street. This is a hugely prestigious award for every player. This summer, I made plenty of history at the most important tournament, the World Cup. Still, there is plenty of time left. And people have every right to judge who the world’s best player is.”
Whether you win the Ballon d’Or or not… do you believe you are the best player in the world?
Kylian Mbappé: “I have always thought so, yet this is highly subjective. Everyone holds their own opinion. Some will agree, and others will disagree. That is what the debate is all about… It is impossible for everybody to share my point of view. This year could be a great opportunity to win the Ballon d’Or, but journalists hold the voting power and they will make the final decision.”
