In the recently concluded El Clásico, Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1. Arsenal legend Arsène Wenger shared his views on the match in an interview with Camel Live.
Wenger stated: “Xabi Alonso balanced his team well today. Overall, in some ways, this game felt a bit like 'men against boys'. For example, Real Madrid's defense was far more solid than Barcelona's. In attack, Madrid always maintained the pressure of 'being able to score another goal', while Barça looked toothless upfront without Lewandowski and Raphinha.”
“After Mbappé missed the penalty, Barcelona controlled more possession in the second half but never created real scoring chances. Madrid's defensive balance today was excellent, and credit must go to Xabi Alonso for that.”
“Ordinarily, you focus on balancing the squad, rekindling players' motivation, and setting better goals than the previous year. But for Barça now, I think they've lost Inigo Martínez at the back—one of their few experienced players. In Mbappé's goal today, it was clear Barça's defense lacked maturity and experience in dealing with it.”
“Barcelona lacked maturity in key moments today. Winning big games hinges on handling crucial phases. What did Mbappé do? He had a clear goal: 'I'll make runs behind their center-backs; chances will come', and he clearly told his midfielders to look for his runs when in possession.”
"Jude Bellingham's pass was brilliant, but Barça had no one creating such decisive moments today. In the end, you realize it's that 'top level'—that unique ability, including vision and decisive movement—that decides games."
