In the Spanish Super Cup semi-final where Real Madrid defeated Atlético Madrid in the early hours of today, Vinícius Júnior and Diego Simeone clashed over a Real Madrid substitution, exchanging words before both were shown a yellow card.

In the report, referee Mateo Busquets explained the reason for the yellow cards handed out to the pair. Regarding Vinícius’ booking, the referee wrote: “In the 81st minute, player Vinícius (No.7) was cautioned for arguing with an opposing coach, which did not constitute insult or threat.”
For Simeone’s yellow card, the referee noted in the record: “In the 81st minute, coach Simeone was cautioned for arguing with an opposing player, which did not constitute insult or threat.”
