Chelsea’s seventh red card of the season put them in a tough position in their Premier League clash with Fulham on Wednesday. An 81st minute Harry Wilson goal condemned Chelsea to a 2-1 away loss, extending their winless run to five games (D3, L2). Their last victory came in the EFL Cup back in mid December.
As a result, Chelsea are eighth in the standings and four points off the top four. Chelsea were eliminated in the fourth round last season, but have made it to the final in five of the last nine FA Cups.
Wesley Fofana sat out the midweek match and should be in line for a start, which would be a major boost to Chelsea’s chances at a clean sheet. Liam Delap scored his first Premier League goal for Chelsea on Wednesday but he could miss out here with Joao Pedro expected to lead the line for the visitors.
Marc Cucurella’s sending off means we will likely see Jorrel Hato fill in for the Spaniard at left back. Reece James could also get a rest here with the fixtures quickly piling up in the hectic winter period. Levi Colwill, Dario Essugo and Romeo Lavia will all miss out due to injury.
