“Someone asked me about Solskjær. What I can say is that Ole Gunnar Solskjær is very willing to take charge of Manchester United as an interim coach, and he is happy to help the club again. Nothing has been decided yet, and there’s nothing else I can reveal.”

Later, he updated on X: “Solskjær has shown his willingness to coach; he doesn’t care about the length of the contract.”

Solskjær has been out of work since leaving Besiktas in August 2025. His last tenure at Manchester United was from December 2018 to November 2021: he managed 19 games as interim coach with a record of 14 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses, and 149 games as permanent manager with 78 wins, 33 draws and 38 losses.

Earlier media reports stated that Manchester United will not appoint a permanent manager for the time being, and their plan is to select a formal head coach in the summer.
