Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 3-2 to claim the trophy in the Spanish Super Cup final. The actions of Real Madrid during the post-match award ceremony sparked considerable controversy.

Kylian Mbappé only came on as a substitute for approximately the final 20 minutes of the game. Footage captured by Camel Live on-site reporters showed that after the final whistle and before the start of the award ceremony, Barcelona players lined up to show their respect to Real Madrid, the runners-up. However, in the subsequent scenes, Mbappé repeatedly signaled to his teammates not to applaud the champion Barcelona and urged everyone to leave the award ceremony area as soon as possible.

When Real Madrid players took the stage to receive their runner-up medals and trophy, the entire team did not return the courtesy to their opponents, a move that also aroused dissatisfaction among the Barcelona fans present at the venue. According to on-site footage, Mbappé made gestures at least three times to remind his teammates not to join in the applause for Barcelona.

Nevertheless, not all Real Madrid players fully followed this gesture; some still showed basic respect to their opponents while Barcelona was celebrating the title win.
