Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer guest-starred on a podcast today and discussed Rúben Amorim’s remarks.

After Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Leeds United, Amorim stated that he came to Manchester United to be a team manager rather than a head coach, and that he would leave when his contract expires in 18 months.
Talking about Amorim’s words, Lineker said: “It’s a bit strange, isn’t it? I think it’s a bit similar to Enzo Maresca’s comments a couple of weeks ago. In my opinion, he’s expressing a stance that I’m not managing; I’m just coaching. I don’t have much say in new player signings, nor have I received much support. That’s my interpretation of Amorim’s words.”
Shearer added: “I don’t think he has the capital to complain. He didn’t come to manage Manchester United in the Premier League with stunning achievements. Looking at the results and records since he became Manchester United’s head coach, they are far from good enough.”
